Maraming salamat sa mga lumaro lalo na sa mga pipol from the far north and south.
Ayus yung top 8 natin well represented yung mga teams and yung mga deck variants.
2 Non-Powered/Bazaar/Workshop deck sa top 8.
Hindi naging problema yung crown control dahil ilalis na yung mga spaces na pwedeng singitan nga mga miron.
Ontime tayo nagstart. Napagpatayan ng ilaw pero bukas pa rin ang McDo for the Finals.

First, I would like to thank NG for hosting this very exciting event and show support to us vintage players, may you continue to have vintage tournaments in the future. Second, kudos to vic (eladamri) for organizing this event in the forums and for running the event smoothly, sana di ka magsawa sa supporta mo. Third, I would like to give special thanks to BIO and sawechan without whom, I wouldn’t have been able to join the tournament, thanks guys. Lastly, I would like to congratulate dave (veilstyle) for winning the event, to my fellow top 8s and to all the players who showed their support for this tournament, mabuhay kayo lahat, til next time.

Here’s a short tournament report, enjoy.

SWISS ROUNDS

Round 1 – Joseph Rudio (rainman) with Selkie Strike
2-0
Game 1: Resolved an early oath then got hellkite overlord on the 1st activation followed by Iona on blue the turn thereafter.

Game 2: Resolved an early oath then double dragons attacked for the win

Round 2 – Lance Asprec (lancelot) with Tezzeret
2-0
Game 1: Thoughtseized his protection spell then cast oath, double dragons finishes the game quickly with active ancient grudge in the yard.

Game 2: I managed to resolve oath after he tinkered leviathan with 3 spirit tokens getting me down to 9 life, I oathed hellkite overlord with 2 orchards in play giving me the ability to block his leviathan since I don’t have an island in play, oathed Iona the following turn to suppress his blue spells, the second hellkite overlord joined the next turns alpha strike.

Round 3 – Marco Deligos (cador) with Ichorid
1-2
Game 1: Didn’t manage to delay him long enough to race him with my dragons, zombies ate me alive.

Game 2: I had pithing needle on bazzar and extirpate as back-up to delay him long enough and finish him in two turns with a single 10/8 hellkite overlord courtesy of volcanic island and orchard.

Game 3: My opening seven had oath, AR, Fow, impulse, lotus, orchard, fetch, mox jet, unfortunately I don’t think this hand is at par with the speed ichorid has, I opted to mull to 6 hoping to draw leyline and some broken plays, had almost the same brokenness as with my opening seven but with no graveyard hate, my mull to 5 gave me relic of progenitus but he resolved cotv for zero, was not able to cast any of my black tutors because I only had tropical island in play and a mox jet which I can’t cast. It was all downhill from there and zombies ate my dragons.

Round 4 – Myron Matanguihan (yellow_siomai) with Goblins

Game 1: Resolved an early oath then reigned with double dragons.

Game 2: Resolved an early oath then reigned with double dragons before I cast pyroclasm to wipe off his board, then went for the throat.

Round 5 – Bernard Faeh (bernardfah) with NSA (2-0)
Game 1: Resolved an early oath and race him with my double dragons.

Game 2: Resolved oath fetching hellkite overlord the next turn and assemble vault-key combo the following turn after I rebuild the board free of sphere effects.

Round 6 – Andrew Chan (sawechan) with Tezzeret

Game 1: Managed to control his creatures with thoughseize and fire/ice. I was down to 4, afterwhich I hardcasted hellkite overlord for the win, D-A-Y-M!!!

Game 2: Thoughtseized his meddling mage then cast oath to unleash Iona and double dragons.

Game 1: Can’t say anything about this except that he left bite marks on my dragons.

Game 2: Mulled for leyline and protected it well until cavalry in the form of oath and double dragon arrives.

Game 3: My opening had leyline, spell pierce, pithing needle, mox emerald, relic of progenitus, fetch and underground sea. . . .nuff said.

FINALS

Pinatayan na kami ng ilaw kaya we had to split the prizes and played one game for pride and glory sa mcdo hehe.

Game 1: Dave owned me with a single bazaar activation, discarding worldgorger dragon then cast necromancy to complete the infinite loop.

congrats to fellow top 8 players, especially to veilstyle and vanquish. there were i think 5-6 ichorid present and i think only 2-3 stax. fought against stax (TPC 0-2), bant aggro (rainman 2-0), goblins (ciandaryl 2-1, forced to consult for yawg will on 3rd game) and selkie (dawgie 2-0), then ID'ed with BGW aggro (Allan A.) tapos tepok agad kay sawechan sa top 8 hehe.

props to the 40+ players who joined the tournament. mas marami pa tayo sa standard hehe! a good way to start the year.. and the decade din hehe. hopefully this strong attendance would lead the way for more tournaments from NG. special thanks to eladamri for spearheading the event.

Back to Back wins for Team TX!

Congrats to my other top 8 mates, and my teammates for their eternal support.

I played Minus 15, which is based on the Minus 6 deck of demonic attorney on tmd forums. I changed it and added the tinker shroud monster robot main, plus a few more tweaks for our meta.

Game 1: Zoilo playing mono blue with 4 tezzeret deck
Round 1, I try to go off, thoughtseizing early and often, but he manages to draw into some protection and he drops tezzeret after floating 1 from a drained seize, then proceeds to go infinite immediately
Round 2, I transform and try to go off again this time with tinker, but still he has the protection, and the nuts again to go infinite

Game 2: Rommel (omheng) playing the Deck
Round 1, I combo out in turn 3, showing him Oona after several bazaars and wipeout his library from the game
Round 2, I transform catch him off guard as he boards in graveyard hate, and I win by assembling the tezzeret vault and attack with bobs and sensei's top for protection

Game 3: Quinn playing TPS with vault key
Round 1, He manages to quickly assemble the vault and key with all his tutors and he goes infinite
Round 2, I transform, and the plan works. Quinn plays the graveyard hate almost immediately, and I manage to win off a tinker leviathan with some protection
Round 3, He notices something seems off, and doesn't aggressively play graveyard hate I assemble my own tezzeret and vault off drain mana and go infinite

Game 4: Jemoy (yomej) playing monoblack suicide dark depths
Round 1: I play an early confidant and bob reveals inkwell and force of will successively dropping me to about oh 6 life, I go balls to the wall and animate dead another dark confidant and ride them both for a while (dropping my life to 3, but I manage with a top in play) but he manages to dark blast the confidants, extirpate my necromancy and smack me with his own bob
Round 2: He brings in all the leyline hate, and they all show up, but I win this off a drain into tezzeret and vault plus confidants
Round 3: I manage to tinker for Leviathan early, his sad sac shows up a turn too late, and leviathan gets there

Game 5: Luis (sgd) playing Tezzerator URB
Round 1: He mulls to 6, and I thoughtseize his hand twice eating a tinker and a dark confidant, he stays mana light with an underground sea and a tolarian which I cancel out with my own tolarian, I quickly setup for an early surprise dragon win and oona eats his library.
Round 2: I transform, drop an early time vault, and he tries to bait my counters, we draw go for a bit, but I manage to counter the spells that matter preventing him from developing his board position, I top deck demonic tutor to fetch the key, with mana floating to go infinite with confidant beats

Game 6: Archie playing Selkie ID
Round 1: Chinese resto buffet, not that appealing so we go to the next door
Round 2: to Thai buffet for the win
Round 3: Thai buffet is still winning, and I grab some fruit magic to refresh the brain.

Top 8 with JM playing 4c Zoo I hate you everybody deck
Round 1: I try to go off on turn 2, but I forget he has STP, and he stp's me to remind me, then proceeds to beat me down with his aggro mode on.
Round 2: I transform, but he knows my game, and he needles vault on his turn 2, I stay the course and build up my resources, he tries to wreck my toys, I get to drain his hooligans, I get to thirst and ancestral to filter my hand, then I tinker in Leviathan, and he gets there
Round 3: I spend alot of time in sideboarding trying make a hybrid tezzeret dragon (I keep half of each deck type MD) and it starts out more of the same, with him dropping pridemage beats early, I manage to drain his beaters, and finally stabilize after I find tinker for leviathan and the monster robot tramples for the win.

Top 4 Andrew Chan (sawechan) playing Tezzeret
Round 1: I keep a hand of tinker, black lotus, sapphire and some other assorted spells. He plays, I draw into thoughtseize and manage to fish out a drain from him. Tinker Leviathan afterwards gets me there
Round 2: I transform, but he manages to assemble the vault key by turn 3 with black lotus and demonic tutor, and he goes infinite but I'm curious to see his win condition and more of his deck, so he finally drops and wins via Sphinx beats
Round 3: This ones a bit hazy, but I think I won this with on the back of tinker leviathan again.

Finals with Jay Rod (vanquish) Oath (split top prize, and play for 1 round sudden death for kicks)
Round 1: I play my starting 7 holding an echoing truth, bazaar, intuition, necromancy and some lands. I win the die roll and play a land. Jay Rod gets oath out on his first turn and passes the turn. I draw a dragon (combo complete), echoing truth the oath on my turn, beat with the spirit tokens, then he vamps on my end step for an underground sea. Jay Rod plays oath again on his 2nd turn, and it sticks, I draw into a force, drop my bazaar and go dragon for the win
